NASCE Newsletter 2017

Dear friends of NASCE,

I would like to thank everyone for their support of the Network of Accredited Clinical Skills Centres (NASCE). NASCE, founded in September 2014 in Stockholm as a Multidisciplinary Joint Committee of the UEMS, has had a successful year and continue to grow.

Accreditation 2016

During 2016 NASCE has accredited two more outstanding clinical skills centres; the Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (NSALK) in Trondheim, (Norway) and the ORSI Academy in Melle (Belgium). We wish them a very warm welcome to the NASCE network and are confident that they will add key knowledge in the field of medical simulation.

NASCE meetings 2016

In 2016, NASCE arranged two well attended meetings: in Ghent (the business meeting) hosted by Professor Isabelle van Herzeele, and in Dublin (the scientific meeting), hosted by Professor Paul Ridgway and the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI). The oral presentations at the business and scientific meetings could be found on the homepage of NASCE: www.nascenet.org (see below).

Train the Trainers instructor course

NASCE is in the process to design a specific Train the Trainers (TtT) instructor course for educators at simulation centres. The working group for this project is led by Dr. Dilek Kitapcioglu, and we hope to pilot the course during 2017.

NASCE meetings 2017

NASCE will arrange two meetings in 2017; a business meeting at the Domus Medica Europaea (DME) in Brussels on February 24, and the scientific meeting in Lund, Sweden, October 12-13. Please save he dates.

The detailed program for the business meeting will be available on the NASCE website shortly. Information about the scientific meeting, including dead-line for abstract submission, program, venue and accommodation, will be posted on the website before the summer vacations.

 Website

The website, www.nascenet.org, is managed by the NASCE webmaster Dr. Erhan Sayali (erhan.sayali@acibadem.edu.tr). On the website, you will find background information about NASCE, documents relating to accreditation criteria and application forms for simulation centers that wish to apply for NASCE accreditation.

You will also find all pertinent information about past and upcoming NASCE activities.

Best wishes,

Anders Bergenfelz

Professor

Chairman of NASCE/UEMS
