The Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Training (CAMST) offers systematic training of technical and non-technical skills in high fidelity simulators for students and health care staff. This improves patient safety and decreases the risk of medical mistakes.
Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Training (CAMST) is a core facility for systematic training at Karolinska University Hospital. The Center has a leading position in systematic education, evaluation and research in the field of advanced medical simulation. Our vision is to maximize patient safety.
Our mission is fourfold:
a. To implement and strengthen the safety culture in today's healthcare
b. Validation and research in the field of advanced medical simulators and human factors in high technological healthcare
c. Development of a modern curriculum embedding the use of advanced medical simulators for image guided surgery and endoscopy as well as crew resource management and procedural training in acute care settings
d. Basic accreditation in image guided surgery and endoscopy
The teachers, researchers and instructors at Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Training are a multidisciplinary group of physicians, nurses, psychologists and engineers with a shared vision of error free health care by systematic training. The following medical specialities are represented: Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology. Psychology and Biomedical Engineering are equally represented.
